Bernard Hopkins and Keith Holmes battle for middleweight unification

My Press

Saturday, April 7

Bernard Hopkins and Keith Holmes took the first step in unifying the Middleweight title. Hopkins and Holmes fought a good fight, well Keith Holmes fought a good fight, but Bernard Hopkins fought a great fight.

I was truly impressed with Hopkins. His speed was fantastic, his effective aggressiveness was right out of the boxing bible, his body shots though some a little low, were punishing. He took the fight to Keith Holmes and showed that he is ready for the winner of Trinidad - Joppy fight.

Keith Holmes is no pushover and is as good as 98% of all the other middleweights, but Hopkins was in great condition. I scored 10 - 9 in every for Hopkins except for round 5 when Hopkins had a point taken away for a low blow, but he still won the round.

If Keith Holmes gets back into his winning ways in the next few years we could see a rematch, that will be up to Hopkins though. Holmes was never stunned by any of Hopkins punches, but he seemed outclassed.

Bernard Hopkins will give Joppy or Trinidad a lot of trouble in the final unification bout. We will be in for quite a treat when Joppy fights Trinidad and also when the winner of that fight meets Hopkins.
