![]() ![]() First of all I think the new WBA champ John Ruiz really has good boxing skills and he is even worthy of a top 10 ranking, but does he have the stuff to be a world champion. In the first Ruiz vs Holyfield fight in blank of 2000 everybody cried foul and rightfully so cause John Ruiz won the fight, but they gave it to Holyfield. Why probably because of money or maybe because the judges do not have a clue. The first fight was a very close fight and could have even been considered a draw. Now in the rematch the fight goes the distance and again was a very close fight, but only in the last 3 or 4 rounds. Holyfield dominated the fight for the first 8 rounds by landing more powerful, decisive shots and controlling the fight. Ruiz was a mess. Though Holyfield was knocked down in the 11th round he still should have been ahead on all scorecards, but again the decision went to the guy who should have lost the fight. Also after the fight all the news articles mentioned Holyfield retiring. I can not see that as the case because Evander Holyfield is as good as 97% of the rest of the heavyweight division and can still add drama to the division. Imagine this ---------- 1. Holyfield vs Tyson III 2. Holyfield vs Wladimir Klitschko 3. Holyfield vs Vitali Klitschko 4. Holyfield vs David Tua 5. Holyfield vs Lance Mount Whitaker ![]() All of these fights would be great fights and generate millions of dollars. He would be a fool to retire now. The heavyweight division is about ready to open up again and should generate some great fights in this decade and Holyfield should be apart of it. |
